Safari Adventure

Join Professor Pathfinder on a path to adventure! This exciting magic show will take children to hunt for a lion on a safari! Not only will they meet lots of animals on the way, but they’ll also learn a little bit about conservation. They will learn to care for our world so animals and people will have a place to live. This adventure is full of wacky animal puppets that are a crazy amount of fun. Each animal routine will have a book that it promotes. When the professor teaches everyone how to do a magic trick, they will also be encouraged to check out books about magic. This production is packed full of chances for kids to be on stage helping, and they will be the stars of the show. Books, magic, puppets, and lots of audience participation make that more than a magic show. It’s an adventure!

How the Show Supports STAAR Success

1. Reading Comprehension & Literacy

  • Each puppet routine is tied to a book, encouraging students to read for fun.
  • STAAR heavily tests comprehension, inference, and text-to-world connections — skills reinforced when kids link animal adventures to conservation themes and magic tricks to instructional texts.
  • Promoting book exploration builds vocabulary and fluency, both critical for STAAR reading passages.

2. Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving

  • Magic tricks require following steps, predicting outcomes, and understanding cause-and-effect.
  • These mirror STAAR’s emphasis on logical reasoning in math and science sections.

3. Science & Social Studies Integration

  • Conservation themes connect directly to STAAR science standards (ecosystems, habitats, interdependence).
  • Safari storytelling introduces geography, animal classification, and human-environment interaction — all tested in STAAR social studies.

4. Oral Language & Communication

  • Audience participation gives children practice in speaking clearly, listening actively, and responding — skills aligned with STAAR’s focus on communication and constructed responses.

5. Motivation & Engagement

  • STAAR success isn’t just about content knowledge; it’s also about confidence and persistence.
  • By making learning playful and interactive, the show reduces test anxiety and builds positive associations with academic skills.

“Great show last week.  Very funny, entertaining, and age appropriate, with a good message too!  You don’t find many refreshing shows for children these days.”
