Heroes Around the World

Looking for a fun and educational program that teaches children about what it means to be a hero? Look no further than Heroes Around the World! Combining magic and puppets, this show will entertain and engage children while also teaching them important values such as responsibility, citizenship, fairness, trustworthiness, caring, and respect.

Through fast-paced magic, puppetry, and storytelling, children will be so engrossed in the show that they won’t even realize they are learning. And when they leave, they will have the skills they need to be heroes themselves!

Audience participation is a significant part of this performance, and the program was designed to support the Character Counts curriculum. Lesson plans and resources are available on the charactercounts.org website, making it easy for educators to incorporate this program into their teaching.

In addition to learning about important values, children will also learn how to use the Dewey Decimal System and be encouraged to learn more about different cultures. The show promotes several books, including “Seeds of Change”, “The Jungle Book”, “The Legend of the Bluebonnet”, “Charlotte’s Web, “Too Many Mangos”, and “Mulan”.

Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to teach children about what it means to be a hero. Book Heroes Around the World today and watch as your students become inspired to be heroes in their own lives!

Alignment with STAAR Standards

  • Reading Comprehension & Literary Analysis
    • Promotes books like Charlotte’s Web, Mulan, and The Jungle Book, which build familiarity with literary themes, character development, and cultural context — all tested in STAAR reading.
    • Storytelling and puppetry model narrative structure, sequencing, and cause/effect relationships.
  • Vocabulary & Language Skills
    • Fast-paced magic and interactive dialogue expose students to rich, descriptive language.
    • Audience participation encourages active listening and speaking — reinforcing communication skills assessed in STAAR English Language Arts.
  • Research & Information Literacy
    • Teaching the Dewey Decimal System directly supports STAAR’s emphasis on research skills, locating information, and organizing sources.
  • Social Studies & Citizenship
    • Values like responsibility, fairness, and respect tie into STAAR’s social studies strands on citizenship and community roles.
    • Exposure to different cultures broadens global awareness, which STAAR often integrates into reading passages and social studies questions.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
    • Magic tricks and interactive challenges encourage students to infer, predict, and evaluate — mirroring STAAR’s higher-order thinking requirements.

“Thank you for coming this far to present a wonderful program. You were able to handle all ages and hold there attention. I love the stage with the backdrop and that you used a microphone. Very professional. I got really good feedback from the parents and the children. The use of interaction really thrills the children. I liked your promptness and the preshow.”
